Q7’s Div 1 Game Report from the Quarter Finals

Last Saturday, at Musgrave Hill Bowls Club, Division 1 competed in the quarter finals of the Q7’s competition and WON against Musgrave Hill!

In the Singles, Jason McNaught had a dominant win against a quality opponent. Jason played outstanding bowls on the day after leading 15-14 and he never conceded another shot to win 25-14 in a brilliant display of singles. This result set up a great platform for one of the other teams to win and clinch a quarter final victory.

In the Pairs, Scotty Lapthorne and Cohen Litfin jumped out to an early lead against two kiwi internationals who had boisterous crowd support and were able to reel the Jindalee pair in to win 19-15. The boys were unfortunate in a few ends to go down but still played quality bowls.

The Fours, skippered by Bryce Litfin, seemed to be in trouble most of the game being down 10-5 but got back to 10-10 only to fall behind again 15-10. With five ends to play, Jindalee scored a 1 and a 1 and then a 5 to hit the lead 17-15 and then never dropped another end to win 23-15. Some of the bowls Bryce played had to be seen to be believed particularly over the later ends. Logan Litfin had a particularly good game as lead as he has had all year with Wood and Mitch Sullivan chipping in at vital times for a great team effort.

This Saturday, Jindalee play Salisbury in the Semi-final at 2pm at Musgrave Hill, Southport and hopefully the Final on Sunday at the same time and venue.

It would be great if we could have more support for the teams this week as the Clubs Div 1 side has put in a great effort with corresponding success all season.
